The City Prolific: Weekend Events October 4 – 7
Last weekend was one of my favorite events of the year: the West Hollywood Book Fair. I scored two great reads, and sat around on the lawn of park, under a hot, hot sun.
There’s finally been a break in the weather. It’s no longer scorching, but it is still beautiful. Get out and enjoy it.

Held on the stretch of Colorado Boulevard between Eagle Rock Boulevard and Townsend, The Eagle Rock Music Festival is a true neighborhood affair. Angelenos of all ages and demographics roam the streets, line up for food trucks, catch a bunch of local bands, peruse the goods at the clothing and craeft booths, and dance to dj sets.
This year, the Center collaborated with Dublab, KOXY, FYF Fest, LA Record, Stone’s Throw, The Ship Studios, and Kingsize Soundlabs to create the handpicked and artfully curated lineup that the Eagle Rock Music Festival is known for.
A free shuttle service to and from the festival will be available from Eagle Rock Plaza, where free parking will be available for festivalgoers.

CicLAvia
CicLAvia is a great experience. Do this, to gain a new understanding of LA, its citizens, and its streets. Break out your bike, your roller blades, or just your sneaks, and ride the car-free streets. This time, they’re expanding their route and adding new spurs to Boyle Heights, Chinatown, and Expo Park. CicLAvia makes the streets safe for people to walk, skate, play and ride a bike. There are activities along the route. Shop owners and restaurants are encouraged to open their doors to people along the CicLAvia.
Ciclovías started in Bogotá, Colombia, over thirty years ago as a response to the congestion and pollution of city streets. Now they happen throughout Latin America and the United States.
