It’s Halloween in LA. That means it’s 80 degrees, the Santa Anas are relentless, and your jack-o-lanterns are moldy and rotting.  Get out and get your spook on.


FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26


NewFilmmakers Los Angeles holds its October screening tonight of a dozen new short films at Sunset Gower Studios. There are pre- and post-receptions for each program, a filmmakers’ lounge, and audience Q&A sessions.  It’s a fun way to see the studio campus, and support and network with new filmmakers.

A group of close female friends on a yearly adventure vacation find themselves trapped and hunted in a series of caves. The expedition takes a turn for the worse after a rock fall leaves them stranded in an uncharted cave with no map and only a handful of supplies. As tensions arise in the group, they are faced with another danger—one whose love of the dark is as strong as its lust for blood.  Pack a picnic basket, lawn seating.

Dia de los Muertos at Hollywood Forever Cemetery




































This may be the best way to celebrate Halloween / Dia de los Muertos in all of California. Come dressed and painted. as a walking esquelto.  Marvel at the 100 altars dedicated to the dead, the procession and the dancers dressed in Aztec costumes. Live music by Ozomatli, Very Be Careful, La Santa Cecilia, Las Cafeteras and Tribu.

Vincent Price is the only reason you need to sit on the hill next to the Hollyhock House looking over Hollywood Boulevard, and be thoroughly spooked.  Bring a blanket and a picnic to enjoy this classic screened upon the beautiful Olive Hill at Barnsdall Park.  All screenings are 17+ to attend and 21+ to drink. Beer + Wine: City Sip will be offering three glasses of unique beer and wine selections. Come early, have a few drinks, and secure your spot in front of the screen. Food: Bring a picnic! You are welcome to bring your own food, soft drinks, and a blanket; however, NO outside alcoholic beverages will be permitted. 

Ticket for Drinks and the Movie are $25 Tickets for the movie only (no drink tickets) are $10 Additional glasses of beer or wine will be $5. 

Doors open at 5:30pm Beer and Wine served 5:30-7:30pm; Screening at 7:30pm.

This new Flea Market will transform 5 of Joe’s Parking Lots located between 2nd and 3rd Streets Main to Broadway into a oasis of Vintage, Collectibles & Hand crafts. Aside from the best location in town, the DTLA Flea Market & Food Fest will boast L.A.’s favorite gourmet food trucks, great live music, a beer garden, and an exclusive V.I.P. option for additional services, providing all the ingredients for a rule-bending Sunday flea market.
